Opposite to Croatian coast which is mainly based on Mediterranean cuisine with a fusion of Balkan dishes, continental part of Croatia( Slavonija, Zagreb, Međimurje) are focused mostly on high quality meat and dairy products. Čvarci, kulen, slavonian black pig sausage and many more are complementary with the coast. Often it happens that people who live by the sea trade their products with people from Slavonia so they can both enjoy each others products.

Dishes like paprika and grah are traditional Croatian stews that are nutritious as much as they are delicious.

Wine production is diverse and this region offers some great white wines like graševina, žlahtina, riezling, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.
